10 ways to get busy over weekends

Times have gone where you used to have only a day for the weekend and that wasn't enough. The work week is hectic, so is reduced to 5 days and the weekend to two days so you have more time to relax. Don't you have a feeling many a times, oh I could have utilized my weekend better? It might come to your thought that you should plan your weekends best possible way and most effectively the same way as you plan your weekdays at office. Taking rest is of course a priority, but there are other things in life that is essential too and weekend is the only opportunity for you to utilize it to the maximum. Most companies do not provide enough flexibility with leaves. You must see what your priorities are and what best you can do to meet them utilizing your off time. We have some tips that may help you:

1. Find Volunteering Opportunities
There are many volunteering activities that can keep you busy over the weekends or your free time. There are various community and civil services in the city run by NGOs that you can participate. The various types of volunteering opportunities may range from contributing to green environment, helping senior citizens, help for disabled, educating poor children, fundraising, cooking aid, medical assistance etc. Many young volunteers join these organizations in the city as part of their internship, there is no limit to the age group.

2. Training for Professional Growth
You may look to get involved in any professional training that may help you boost your career. The industry is very demanding demanding these days that challenges you to upgrade your skills consistently to keep pace with the emerging market. Professionals like IT, Finance and Banking professionals have always to keep up to the market demands with new trends and technologies. Weekends are the best opportunity to utilize to enhance your professional career so you are stress free and moving ahead.

3. Educate and earn
If you have good knowledge on subjects of your interest, you may want to share your knowledge by training people and what better if you could also earn by educating others. Training institutes and professional training centers are always in the look out of skilled professionals to impart training to candidates. Online media also provides excellent opportunity to propagate knowledge to a vast audience by internet media. Moreover, knowledge sharing helps you get firm on the subject and gives you opportunity to learn by contribution. You may look to choose any subject related to a general skill based training like cooking, art, weaving, crafting etc or any professional training on technology and orientations.

The idea of doing a part-time business may not only give you an opportunity to earn extra income but will also keep you busy in doing something of your interest. 6. Connect and grow your network
You may find opportunities to connect with people and grow your social and professional network. Find opportunities to connect when you go out for a casual walk or around the market for shopping etc. Socializing is a good way to keeping busy and keeping yourselves lively as active citizen. 7. Exercise and Sports

Exercising during the weekends is a good way to keep yourself healthy and active for life. It is difficult to find time over the weekdays as your schedules are tight starting off early in the morning and coming late in the evenings. However, you may look to engage for a one to two hour exercise in the mornings and evenings during weekends from a brisk walk, to warm up exercises to heavy exercises like building up muscles or swimming etc. Sporting is also a good way to keep active, spend time playing a sport like volley ball, badminton, table tennis, cricket etc.. This will burn your fats and keep you active recharging you to perform over the week. 

8. Pursue a Passion 
Join a course with classes over weekends that you are most interested in. You may look to join courses that help you in your profession as part time executive MBA, 1 year post graduate diploma in finance management, part time in environmental management etc. Your intent should be to pursuing a passion that you are more interested in doing rather than only building up additional degree or diploma that will help you in your profession. 

9. Meditate
Meditating brings you peace in life and gives you energy to fight with various odds in life. It also balances your mind to think in the right direction, think of ways to resolve your problems and feel happy with what you have achieved in life. You may look to join any meditation or yoga classes in your vicinity for an initial period and then can do it by self.

10. Get Involved in outside activities
Try to get involved in some activities like gardening, crafts, games, sports, cooking or any cultural activities which keeps your mind engaged into different things than your profession. You may find it energizing and relaxing to get involved in other activities that does not involves only a contribution and there is no pressure of work.
